Many companies today are looking for employees that have Six Sigma training. Having a Green Belt in Six Sigma puts you ahead of others that apply for open positions. When they see that you have this certification they know that you know how to analyze and understand data. Some even list it as a requirement for some of their job postings. Becoming a Green Belt takes time and dedication. There is a lot to read and learn about the Six Sigma process. You learn how to Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. A Green Belt knows how to process map procedures and processes and how to read and analyze the results. Six Sigma teaches you to use quality measurements to identify and remove defects in a process or procedure. There are defined steps to analyzing a process using Six Sigma.
Some companies offer Green Belt Six Sigma training to their employees at no cost. This is a great perk to have as this training can be expensive. Once you finish your training they usually assign you to work alongside a Black Belt so that you can hone your skills and learn more.
If you do well with your Green Belt training you can also take additional training. Becoming a Black Belt takes time and lots more training. This can take up to a year to complete. While some companies offer Green Belt training to all of their employees they usually reserve Black Belt training for high level employees. Once you learn the Six Sigma Skills you can use them anywhere you work. Usually a company only uses Six Sigma if there is quantifiable financial gain like a profit or a decrease in production costs.
